Meet the Pastor
I am a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ, located at 815
South Main Street in Dyerburg, Tennessee. I was baptized in the name
of Jesus Christ for the remission of my sins when I was ten years
old, and received the Holy Ghost at a youth camp just before I
turned eleven-- the same night my then future wife, Sis. Terri, received
the Holy Ghost. Growing up I was an active member of the local youth
group at our church, and also played the bass guitar and piano.
At the age of fifteen God called me into the ministry. At first I
was reluctant to accept His calling; however, the Word of God truly
says the gifts and calling of God are without repentance, and I
could find no peace in my walk with God until I accepted his will
for my life. I was privileged to grow up in the ministry under a
great man of God, Bis. Tommy Johnson. I have always admired his
wisdom and strength of character.
The Lord brought Sis. Terri and I together in the spring of 1984,
and we were married January 18, 1985. Sis. Terri has been a blessing
to me in life and in the work God has called me to do in the church.
Her love and support through the years has enabled me to do more
than I ever could alone. God blessed us with two wonderful children;
a son, John Michael, and a daughter, Laura Beth. They are a joy to our lives, and
they are both saved and are active in the church. John Michael
has also been called into the ministry.
Sis. Terri and I were adult choir leaders for a period of time in
the late 1980’s. We became youth leaders for the local church in
1990. I began serving as Secretary-Treasurer for the church in 1992.
During that same year Sis. Terri and I were appointed Assistant
National Youth Leaders with The Church of Jesus Christ,
headquartered in Portage, Indiana. In April of 1999 church members
unanimously approved my appointment as Assistant Pastor, and in 2001
Sis. Terri and I became National Youth Leaders.
In a special service on September 26, 2004, Bis. Johnson transferred
pastorship of the church over to me. Bis. and Sis. Johnson, as well
as the rest of the members of the church, have been very supportive
since that time. I am still humbled today by his having chosen me
for his work, and pray I can simply fulfill his purpose in my life.
Please pray for Sis. Terri and I as we strive to do the Lord’s will
in Dyersburg.
Sincerely,
Eld. Mickey Dodd
